Bhubaneswar, December 9 (LocalWire): Ace sprinter Dutee Chand has joined hands with activists for the protection of stray animals on the streets.
“Right from childhood, I was fond of domesticated and stray animals. Therefore I have got associated with People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India. Recently I did an advertisement for the organisation in an attempt to spread awareness on the safety of stray animals,” Chand, now in Delhi, told the LocalWire in a telephonic conversation.
“I did it free for the organisation that is doing a great work espousing the cause of the animals,” she said.
“The stray animals are good scavengers. They are an integral part of the animal kingdom. Cruelty towards them is uncalled for,” Chand stated.
“I am told that celebrities like Virat Kohli, Anushka Sharma, Rohit Sharma, Alia Bhatt, Shikhar Dhawan, John Abraham, Sidharth Malhotra, Sonam Kapoor, and Sania Mirza are intensely associated with the noble work for the kind and ethical treatment towards animals. I feel proud to have joined the elite league,” she said.
