Bhubaneswar, February 23(LocalWire) While the Odisha film and entertainment industry is booming, many aspirants hoping to kickstart a career in the field soon get disheartened by failures and give up even before they started.
Only a few survive through their persistent hard work. Tathagat Das is one of them who spent all his time charting his career.
He has been able to make a modest start at an early age. The 23-year-old journalism student recently spoke with LocalWire about his journey that has brought him fame and recognition.
Tathagat began his singing lessons with bhajans at the age of 8 in Keonjhar, Odisha. When he turned 12, his family moved to Santiniketan in West Bengal, where he received his first formal training in music under his teacher Dilip Karmakar. He also learned to play violin and keyboard.
Today, Tathagat aspires to become a successful professional singer. His first single ‘Mujhmein hai tu’ with Abhishek Bhatt, is set to be released soon under the Zee music label.
“I was trying to get into the music industry but despite all my training I was unable to do so.
It was only when I started to work with international artists that I gained confidence – that I can make it big in the international music industry.
“I started performing at events like Xpression (XIMB) and Spectrum (NIFT) in 2016. I produced my first album ‘Spectra Volume 1’, with ‘Spinnin’ records,” said Tathagat.
Tathagat has also worked with established artists like Cyril Gabriel (MadBus Audio), Vivek Ravate (Blue Jam), Krishna Dubey, and regional artists like Humane Sagar.
One of his recent milestones was the launch of his own production house ‘Aurovox Entertainment’. His work is also available on iTunes, Spotify, Shazam and Amazon.
Asked why he chose to become a singer and a musician, he said his love for ‘Linkin Park’ catapulted him into the world of music.
“My family happily backs my choice of taking up my passion as my career, and I think, that’s the biggest sign that I am on the right track!” said Tathagat.
