Kendrapara, Jan 10 (LocalWire) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday raided a petrol pump run by wife of local gangster Usman Ali alias Tito at Kendrapara, in presence of Special Task Force (STF) officials.
On July 18, 2018, Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) had sought CBI’s help to probe into the allotment of two petrol pumps in the name of Sayeed Brothers Filing station at Kendrapada and ad hoc dealership of COCO ( Company Owned Company Operated Retail Outlet ) at Paradip to the relatives of gangster Usman Ali alias Tito.
The Ministry of Petrol and Natural Gas had also asked IOCL to send a report about the allotment of petrol pumps at Kendrapara and Paradip to a person having criminal background, which is a violation of guidelines.
The CBI on Thursday raided the petrol pump at Kendrapada by breaking the door seal covers and seized some documents.
The officials also measured the land of a petrol pump as they suspected Tito illegally acquired government land for the petrol pump by greasing the palms of some officials, said Bimal Prasad Thum, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of STF.
Tito (56) was arrested in an encounter in connection with several crime cases on June 30, 2018 by the STF of Crime Branch.
Earlier, STF sealed commercial and residential premises of Tito and his associates, including Simron Garment shop, owned by his brother G. Babu and a mobile shop owned by another brother Syed Sabir Ali, offices of Kobra Transport and Sambul Traders at Kendrapara town, a bike showroom at Patamundai, two petrol pumps in Paradip and Kendrapara, offices of Benazir Infra Private Limited, Stevedore Company at Paradip and Charter Account in Cuttack.
Several incriminating documents and details of benami transactions of Tito have also been uncovered and is being investigated into.
Crime Branch officials have also seized six cheque books and one passbook, several incriminating articles and documents.
At least 17 tippers and one trailer and eight excavators were also seized from the yard of Benazir Infrastructure Private Ltd, said Thum.
In July 2018, during investigation, vigilance found officials of Kendrapara municipality illegally leased out government land for an approach road to Tito for the petrol pump.
The vigilance team had ascertained that the deed of agreement in this regard executed on Aug 7, 2015 between the Executive Officer, Kendrapara Municipality and Benazir Bibi has not been registered in the Sub-Registrar Office, Kendrapara, which is a violation of Section 17(1)(d) of the Registration Act. 1908.
