Bhubaneswar, May 7 (Local Wire): Union Minister of Culture Prahlad Singh Patel today said that his ministry has announced opening all the 820 Archeological Survey of India (ASI) monuments of religious importance including Puri Jagannth temple from June 8.
The ministry also issued a statement about the list of all the 820 such monuments which included-Puri Jagannath temple, Konark temple, Lingaraj temple and 43 others from Odisha.
The ministry has however said all the Standard Operating Protocol (SOP) issued by the Health Ministry and Home Ministry must be issued when religious sites are opened.
However the state government is yet to take a call on opening Puri temples and other 45 sites in the state.
Official sources said that a state notification into this regard will be published soon.
“The state lockdown orders will prevail and the government will soon publish a notification on the issue for clarity.
Till now no decision to open the temple is taken,” a senior official from the state government said.
