Kendrapada, July 1 (LocalWire): The Centre included Kendrapara district in its Jal Shakti Abhijan today.
Jal Shakti minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat launched the scheme in New Delhi in 255 districts of the country.
The authorities will educate the people about rainwater harvesting, water conservation, cleaning water bodies to improve the ground water level to check the ingress of salinity in the coastal pockets of the district and other water conservation measures.
The scheme is also aimed at promotion of irrigation efficiency, a mass movement through asset creation and communication campaigns, said Dilip Kumar Parida, the project director of District Rural Project Agency.
The forest, agricultural, soil conservation, irrigation, drainage and rural water supply and sanitation (RWSS) departments will prepare a comprehensive action plan to implement the project in the district, added the officer.
