Bhubaneswar, Dec 3 (LocalWire): Two Central Electricity Supply Utility of Orissa (CESU) discom staff were arrested today in Puri while demanding and accepting Rs 5,000 from a complainant.
Junior engineer, Sakhigopal section, Bignharal Mohanty and Indipur Fuse Call Office linesman Debi Prasad Nayak had demanded money from complainant Suresh Chandra Das, native of Dhankera village for restoring electricity to his house.
A harassed Das informed vigilance sleuths and accordingly a trap was laid.
The accused were caught red-handed while receiving the chemical-coated currency notes.
The discom staff were booked under various provisions of prevention of corruption Act, said vigilance officials. They will be remanded to judicial custody tomorrow, they added.
