Bhubaneswar, Nov 15 (LocalWire): Nearly a week after the severe cyclone Bulbul rendered 16 lakh consumers without power, authorities today said they have restored electricity to almost all the affected areas.
Several areas of Jagatsighpur and Kendrapada, under CESU and Bhadrak, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore and Jajpur under NESCO plunged into darkness as the cyclone passed over the districts, but did not make a landfall.
In Balasore, 19 locations were restored, for 4,87,448 consumers, nine locations in Bhadrak for 2,79,488 consumers with partial restoration in Chandan Bazar, 14 locations in Jajpur for 30,5,744 consumers under NESCO.
Under CESU, Jagatsinghpur saw six locations, including Paradeep town getting back power, along with Kendrapara and other areas.
Authorities said 70,000 consumers in Kendrapada and Jagtsinghpur and more than 60,000 in Jajpur, Bhadrak, Mayurbhanj and Balasore under NESCO were affected.
Dozens of teams were deployed in the districts to restore faults and bring back power supply with field officers of CESU and NESCO supervising and monitoring restoration work.
