Bhubaneswar, March 9 (LocalWire):The Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture on Friday observed the International Women’s Day with various activities, including a live telecast of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s interaction with self-help group (SHG) members.
This year’s theme of Women’s Day was “Balance for better”.
Several prominent citizens have addressed the event.
S.N. Mohanty, head of Obstetrics & Gynaecology of Apollo Hospital, Bhubaneswar, who was the chief guest at the function, emphasized on importance of women health and hygiene.
Subhashree Nanda, joint secretary, school & mass education department, stressed on the importance of education in empowerment of women.
Reeta Rani Das, external member ICC, ICAR-CIFA, gave a presentation on “Right to Information Act”. She stressed on the importance of RTI to prevent atrocities against women.
B.R. Pillai, director of ICAR-CIFA, emphasized on the role of education in women empowerment. “Our society can change only when attitude towards women will change,” he said.
K. D. Mahapatra, principal scientist and chairperson of Internal Women Complaint Committee (ICC), ICAR-CIFA, gave a warm tribute to women who have richly contributed to the society.
On the occasion, prizes were distributed to women participants of various competitions like elocution, quiz, rangoli, crafts, salad plating and mehendi, etc. organized among the staff.
