Bhubaneswar, Dec 6 (LocalWire): The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has slapped a fine of Rs 5,000 on Ekamra Cinema for putting up posters on Bomikhal flyover, said an official on Thursday.
The enforcement squad found cinema posters of the theatre pasted on the flyover, creating alleged visual clutter.
Deputy Commissioner (Enforcement) Subhranshu Mishra said: “Administrative charges were slapped on the cinema hall owners as it was found that the posters were cluttering public space and creating a bad ambiance on the roadside.”
“It is the duty of the civic body to maintain visual aesthetics around the city while the city is organizing the Men’s Hockey World Cup and also the City Festival is going on,” he added.
Through the collection of this administrative charge, a message was sent to others defacing public walls not to do such things or else they would be facing similar penalties in future.
Pertinently, BMC squads, under the leadership of three zonal deputy commissioners, are maintaining strict vigil to make market places and roads litter and encroachment free and also make people use dustbins through the “Swachh Market Swachh Road” campaign.
