Jagatsinghpur, April 22 (LocalWire): The BJD President during an election rally in Niali Assembly constituency on Monday launched a scathing attack on the BJP and said ‘Lies, violence and hooliganism are the main agenda of BJP which is against the state’s culture’.
The chief minister said, ‘Odisha has come a long way.
The first time voters may not be aware of the 1999 super cyclone that devastated the state and er were dependant on other states for relief and rescue work.
Today, Odisha is a model state in disaster management.
We are extending help to Kerala and other states during natural calamities. Is it not a change?’
He further said Odisha was a poor state but now it is leading in poverty elevation. ‘Earlier, rice used to be procured from other states.
Now, we are supplying rice to other states. Is that not a change?’ The chief minister questioned.
‘In 2000, Odisha had only three medical colleges, now the state has nine government medical colleges,’ he said.
‘Lies, violence and hooliganism are the main agenda of BJP.
The party fields criminals who are out on bail as their candidates.
This is against our culture. The people will give a befitting reply to the BJP.
The party’s downfall has begun across the country,’ he said.
The BJD supremo further accused the Centre of conspiring to stop the KALIA scheme which has benefitted 40 lakh farmers and reiterated that BJD would distribute two instalments of financial assistance (Rs 10,000) to farmers on the first day of formation of government.
He said women will get healthcare assistance of Rs 10 lakh under Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana instead of Rs 5 lakh. ‘The 4.5 crore people of Odisha are my family.
I am always with you,’ he added.
