Bhubaneswar, July 22 (LocalWire): Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today spoke to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Serum Institute and enquired about the progress of preparedness of vaccine against the global pandemic of Coronavirus.
The CM, through video conferencing enquired from CEO,Adar Poonawala on the progress so far and expressed happiness over the partnership of the institute with Oxford University for development of the vaccine.
Patnaik sought his cooperation to begin early vaccination in Odisha once necessary clearances are obtained.
The CM said that the State government will be in touch with the Serum Institute for this purpose.
Poonawala on the other hand appreciated the steps taken by the Odisha CM to combat the disease in his region efficiently.
He said that the Oxford University vaccine has shown promising results in the first phase trial.
“In India, the next phase trial will start in mid August and the vaccine will be ready by October-November this year, he added.
