Bhubaneswar, April 22 (LocalWire): Rejecting Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s allegations of dubious dealings against him, BJP leader Jay Panda on Monday claimed that the BJD president makes unsubstantiated allegations and cry like a schoolboy.
Reacting to Patnaik’s allegations of lobbying with central government to get railway lines laid to his mining companies rather than Kendrapara district, Panda said he was disappointed that the CM has reduced himself to this state of making wild unsubstantiated and personal allegations.
“Sometimes he says I’m complaining about his health, sometimes he says I’m coveting his chair. In 18 years in his government, I never coveted any post,” Panda told ANI.
He said the statements against him were politically motivated as none of the allegations had come up till last year when he was a BJD member.
“The fact that late Biju uncle had constantly supported and encouraged our family’s businesses have helped create 10,000 jobs in Orissa,” he added.
“He didn’t find anything dubious in me when I was in BJD. For 90 years, the relationship between my grandfather & his, between my father & his father were close.
“In fact, I’ve always prayed to Lord Jagannath to give him good health and long life. These conspiracy theories that a coterie has planted on him are ridiculous,” Panda said.
Panda is contesting the parliamentary elections from Kendrapara constituency which will go to polls in the third phase tomorrow.
Panda’s criticism of the chief minister comes even as BJP and the ruling BJD have stepped up their attacks against each other on Monday.
Addressing an election rally here, Union Petroleum Minister and BJP leader Dharmendra Pradhan said poll violence has increased in the state, referring to the recent bomb attack and assaults on politicians.
