Kendrapara, April 21 (LocalWire): Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik while addressing two election meetings at Chagharia and Rajnagar in Kendrapara district on Sunday referred to his father and former chief minister of the state Biju Patnaik to woo the voters.
The Chief Minister said ‘Biju Patanaik was emotionally attached with the people here and Kendrapara, too, elected Biju Patnaik many times. I need your blessings.’
‘Both the Congress and BJP have no agenda to develop the state.
The state government has brought large number of women under SHGs and they are now self-reliant. Since the BJD government came into power 19 years back, the state progressed in all sectors,’ he said.
The chief minister also attacked the BJP National Vice-president and Kendrapara MP candidate, Baijayant Panda, for not raising important issues of the district in the Parliament.
‘Panda failed to connect Kendrapara with railway line when he was a Lok Sabha member,’ he said.
The government launched Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation (KALIA) scheme for the farmers, landless labourers and share croppers.
But the Union government is conspiring to stop the scheme by not disbursing funds to farmers, he said.
‘Our prime objective of all rural development programmes is to improve the quality of life in villages, where a major chunk of the state’s population resides.
The state government is determined to help the poor and have started the one rupee kilo gram rice scheme and other beneficiary schemes,’ added the Chief Minister.
The meetings were also addressed by BJD MP candidate Anubhava Mohanty, Kendrapada MLA candidate Sashibhusan Behera, Mahakalapada MLA candidate Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak, Rajnagar MLA candidate Dhrub Sahoo and others.
