Bhubaneswar, December 31 (Localwire): Odisha continues to shiver in coldwave with the state recording the lowest five degrees Celsius in Angul district at 8.30 am on Tuesday.
According to the latest weather chart issued by the Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, the minimum temperature went below ten degree Celsius at 13 places in the state.
Angul was followed by Sonepur, which recorded a minimum temperature of 5.6 degree Celsius, the Meteorological centre here said.
Other places where the minimum temperature plummeted below 10 degree Celsius include, Daringibadi (6 degrees), Keonjhar (6.2 degrees), Phulbani (6.5 degrees), Jharsuguda and Titilagarh (8 degrees), Talcher and Sambalpur (8.6 degrees), Sundargarh and Cuttack (9 degrees), Balasore (9.4 degrees), and Bhubaneswar (9.8 degrees).
The Meteorological Centre also said that there will be no change in minimum night time temperature during next 72 hours across Odisha.
However, it indicated that it may rain in the next 24 hours and that may lead to a further drop in temperature.
Malkangiri, on the southernmost tip of the state, was comparatively free from the cold wave impact with a minimum temperature of 17 degree Celsius, Meteorological Centre officials said.
