Bhubaneswar, December 7 (LocalWire): The coastal state has been hit by the intense cold as the mercury dipped to 6.5 degree Celsius in tourist destination Daringibadi, making it the coldest place in the state during the last 24 hours.
According to the Bhubaneswar office of the Meteorological Centre, the cold wave condition will continue and there will be no change in minimum night time temperature during the next 72 hours across the state.
Daringibadi was followed by Phulbani, also in Kandhamal district, which recorded a minimum temperature of 8 degree Celsius, the Meteorological centre, here, stated.
The temperature dipped below 10 degree Celsius in at least two other places: 8.6 degree Celsius in Sonepur and 9.6 degree Celsius in Angul.
The mercury stood at 10.6 degrees in Koraput, 11 degrees in Bhawanipatna, 11 degrees in Titlagarh, 11.2 degrees in Keonjhar, 11.5 degrees in Sundargarh, 12.5 degrees in Sambalpur, 13 degrees in Balangir, 13.2 degrees in Jharsuguda and 14.1 degrees in Hirakud, the weather department said.
The mercury stood at 16.4 degree Celsius in the state capital Bhubaneswar, while neighbouring Cuttack recorded a minimum temperature of 14.4 degree Celsius.
The port town of Paradip was the less cool, recording a temperature of 19 degree Celsius, it stated.
