Berhampur, Jan 30 (LocalWire) After a brief respite, the cold wave is once again sweeping tribal dominated Kandhamal district.
Hill town Daringibadi recorded the lowest temperature of 4 degree Celsius Wednesday, which is also the lowest temperature in the state, official sources said.
Interior parts of the district, including Baliguddea, Bramhanigaon, R.Udayagiri, Kotagarh, Belaghara, Raikia and Phiringia, also experienced severe cold as minimum temperature in these pockets dipped further than temperature in Daringibadi
Gajapati, another tribal dominated district in southern Odisha, is also reeling under unprecedented cold wave, forcing residents to remain indoors till 9 am and from 5 pm onward.
The blanket of fog engulfed in almost all areas of both the districts in morning hour causing low visibility conditions and affected the flow of vehicular traffic on the roads in the morning hours. People in several places are seen to sit near the bonfire to warm up their bodies.
Cold wave blowing from the northwest and snowfall in Himanchal Pradesh are some of the reasons for the dip of mercury in several places of Odisha, including Kandhamal district, the weather experts said.
Weather experts predicted the cold climate will continue for next few days with temperature dropping further at night.
However, daytime temperature is expected to increase due to clean atmosphere.
