Berhampur, July 31 (LocalWire): Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Union minister Dharmendra Pradhan praised the efforts of Ganjam district Collector who
transplanted paddy samplings along with farmers at Bharasa village under Khallikote block’s Mathura panchayat, two days ago.
Vijay Amruta Kulange while transplanting paddy in the muddy fields, discussed with the farmers their problems.
The Chief Minister praised the Collector for creating awareness on line plantation.
‘It shows his dedication in the work, the CM tweeted.
Dharmendra Pradhan also tweeted that when the administrative officers will be with the people, their problems will be solved.
“I came to known from the media how the Collector interacted with the farmers in their fields,’ he said.
‘I went to the village to inspect the crop conditions and to interact with the farmers while returning from the public grievance held at Beguniapada.
Instead of calling the farmers, I decided to go to the field to discuss with them.
During the discussion about the benefits of line transplantation, I decided to plant the paddy sampling along with them out of curiosity, said Kulange.
The Collector, however, said that this was the first time he planted paddy.
‘I have never planted paddy,’ he said.
‘I know about the line-plantation of other crops in our state Maharashtra, but not about paddy plantation,’ he said.
‘While planting paddy with the peasants, I wanted to let them know that agriculture is not a lowly job but like any other respectable job,’ he added.
‘We were overwhelmed when the Collector transplanted paddy along with us,’ said Purna Pradhan, a farmer.
Other farmers who were working in the paddy field also expressed the same opinion.
‘He has done good transplantation than us,’ said Simanchal Pradhan, another farmer.
A demonstration line plantation was taken up by the agriculture department under the National Food Security Mission (NFSM) in Bharasa village.
While interacting with the farmers, Kulange asked them about the different schemes like Kalia yojna,
Prime Minister Crop Insurance Scheme, Mahatma Gandhi National Rural
Employment Guarantee Scheme and the benefits of the line plantation of the paddy.
‘I am happy that most are aware of the different schemes of the government and several have also benefitted from them,’ he said.
