Berhampur, October 10 (Local Wire) College students’ union elections in Ganjam and Gajapati districts have been postponed due to forthcoming severe cyclonic storm Titli over the Odisha coast.
Elections for the college unions were scheduled on Thursday.
Ganjam district administration took the decision to postpone the college elections in an emergent meeting on Monday.
“We have decided to postpone the college elections in our district in view of the possible impact of Titli in the district,” said Anupam Saha, Gajapati district collector.
There was no clear-cut instruction in this regard from the state government.
The new date for elections would be decided by the government, said LK Tripathy, regional education director, Berhampur.
The contesting candidates are in a state of confusion.
“We are not clear about the process of the election start in fresh from the filing of nominations or to continue as per the existing election schedule,” said one of the contesting candidates in Khallikote Autonomous College.
