Bhubaneswar, April 16 (Local Wire): Several community radio stations in the state have proved to be a boon to the rural population when the newspapers are finding it tough to reach interior and remote areas during lockdown.
“With phones and radio sets many rural population now have acess to community radio broadcasting.
We are providing them authentic information relating to COVID management through connecting them with doctors and governement officials,” said NA Shah Ansari, Chairman, Radio Namaskar, a Konark-based community radio.
This comes at a time when several myths relating to COVID are making rounds through social media.
Several of these stations are now working towards myth busting.
“We are conducting theme based discussions on our radio station to keep public informed about the issues in detail.
This has helped them in empowering them with more information to help them in their fight against COVID,” said SK Md Niyaz, Director, Radio Bulbul, Bhadrak.
There are several other community radio station which are catering to the local population and helping in myth bustng and also informing them about the role of social distancing, personal hygience and brief them about the latest government announcements.
