Berhampur, January 10 (Localwire): Over 229 youths were offered jobs by different private companies in the mega job fair held at Phulbani, the district headquarter town on Thursday, official sources said.
The selected candidates were handed over their appointment letters by the companies on the spot, at the job fair.
Similarly, based on their qualifications and skill, over 4,643 aspirants were selected for direct placement by 51 companies from across the country.
The one-day fair was inaugurated by Skill Development and Technical Education Minister Premanand Nayak, in presence of Kandhamal MP Achyut Samant and MLAs from the district.
The fair was organised by the district administration in collaboration with Skill and Technical Education Department, Panchayat Raj Department, SC/ST Development Department and KIIT University.
A total of 9,128 job-seekers have registered during the fair for jobs, sources said.
“This was one of the biggest job fairs in the district. It was an opportunity for job aspirants to get the appointment letter directly from the companies,” Samant said, adding that more such fairs would be organised in the district and more reputed companies from across the country will be invited to participate.
