Balangir, December 6 (LocalWire): In a unique protest against the unprecedented rise in onion prices, the Balangir town Congress committee led by its president Bulu Dani sold onions at Rs 40 per kg before the collector office here.
The price of onion has been increasing by the day and touched Rs 140 per kg in Odisha affecting millions of common people.
While the protestors sold onion at Rs 40 rupees per kg and each customer was given half a kilogram of the most sought after vegetable, they later burnt the effigy of chief minister Naveen Patnaik and prime minister Narendra Modi, holding them responsible for price rise and anti-people policy.
“The high price of onion has hit hard the common man most. Unless the price of onion and other essential commodities is reduced, the town Congress will continue to show black flag to both the central and the state ministers,” Dani said.
