Jagatsinghpur, March 19 (LocalWire): Hundreds of Congress workers squatted in front of the Biridi police station and went on hunger strike protesting police inaction against ruling party supporters who had hurled bombs at Congress-leader-cum-sarpanch’s house in Ukundara village last month.
Led by Biridi block Congress unit president Sitansu Sekhar Ray, they demanded the immediate arrest of Ras Bihari Das of Moindipur village who had hurled two bombs at the Sarpanch’s house damaging the building and his car on 22 February. No casualty was reported.
Congress workers complained that despite lodging an FIR with the Biridi Police, Das was roaming free since he is an active BJD supporter. They said police had assured them of arresting Das but had held only one accomplice, Sangram Bhoi.
