Rourkela, Dec 2 (LocalWire) The Sundargarh Police on Sunday said they have arrested one constable for allegedly stealing about sixty rounds of bullets from the police armoury.
The police recovered all sixty rounds of bullets from the accused on Saturday and initiated disciplinary action against 26 police personnel working in the armoury section for lapses in duty.
The reserve section of Sundargarh Police had come to know about sixty round of bullets of SLR guns were missing from their armoury.
During investigation, the police came to know involvement of constable Gulsan Kiro in the case. It was suspected that he might be supplying the bullets to extremist groups like Peoples’ Liberation Front of India (PLFI).
“We have arrested constable Gulsan Kiro and recovered all sixty rounds of bullets from him,” said Sundargarh Superintendent of Police Soumya Mishra.
“Besides, steps have been taken to initiate disciplinary action against 26 police personnel, posted at armoury section, for lapses in their duty in this case,” Mishra said. ‘
“We are further investigating in to the matter,” he added.
