Berhampur, Feb 6 (LocalWire) Vigilance sleuths on Wednesday trapped an Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) of police of Sarangagada in Kandhamal district while taking a bribe of Rs 5,000.
The accused was identified as Mahajana Pradhan (54)
He was taking bribe from an individual to compromise a dispute, which was earlier reported to the police.
Police, however, had not registered a case.
The sleuths, trapped him red-handed as per previous arrangements at his residential quarter located inside the premises of the police station, said vigilance SP (Berhampur) Mayadhara Swain here.
The bribe money was recovered from him, said Swain.
His residential quarter at Sarangagada was raided. The details of findings are yet to be assessed.
“Pradhan will be forwarded to the court after interrogation and assessment of his properties,” said Swain.
