Jagatsinghpur Nov 16 (LocalWire) Vigilance sleuths raided one driver of Kujang tahsildar on charges of amassing disproportionate assets on Thursday. The sleuths have traced proprieties worth more than Rs 1.25 crores after being conducted raids on four places.
Vigilance sleuths led by deputy superintendent of police Susant Kumar Sen raided on the residence of the driver of Kujang tahsildar Saisyab Mandal at four places.
Simultaneous raids were conducted at his government quarter at Kujang tahsil office, his residence at Tarenigada in port town, his two brothers-in-law houses at two places of Siju village in Paradip area.
The sleuths found luxurious building worth about Rs 90 lakh, car and another four wheeler worth Rs 14 lakh, gold ornaments of Rs 6 lakh, Rs 2 lakh in different bank accounts and Rs 1.60 lakh insurance deposits.
Household articles worth Rs 7.20 lakh were also traced.
The sleuths found a two-storey building in the name of his wife.
“The searches were conducted on the basis of a search warrant issued by the special judge vigilance, Cuttack and unearthed huge quantity of movable and immovable assets and further investigation in the case is ongoing.
We are ascertaining the income of the driver to ascertain the gap between the cost of assets and actual income,” said a vigilance official.
