Bhubaneswar, Sept 18 (LocalWire): The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) today claimed that the positivity rate of Coronavirus in the state has been on the downward side despite escalation of testing.
The information was given by BMC Commissioner Prem Chandra Choudhury in a press conference today.
He also said that the number of home isolation cases for the active cases of the disease has also sought up in the smart city.
The official said that currently 74 percent of the active cases are under home isolation in the city and are recovering.
“Currently, Bhubaneswar has 4,426 active cases and the number is declining day by day. Last week, it was above 5000. Around 300 to 400 COVID-19 cases are being reported daily despite an increase in tests which are now 4000 to 5000 since the last one week,” he said.
He said that Bhubaneswar is one of the few cities in the state where the test on demand is available through a wide network of government as well as private labs in the state.
On enforcement, the Commissioner said that five zonal squads ensure strict adherence to Coronavirus guidelines in market areas every evening and it is being done in coordination with the Commisionerate Police.
“On a rotation basis, asymptomatic patients are being shifted home.
A total of 445 ICUs and 2500 general beds are available in private hospitals.
Squads have been formed to monitor treatment of COVID-19 patients in these hospitals,”
