Berhampur, Feb 3 (LocalWire):the Kandhamal administration has launched an awareness drive after a China returnee was admitted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack, being a suspected victim of Coronavirus.
The drive was important for the people of region as some of them are also working in Kerala where at least two people have been tested positive to the virus.
“We have asked the people to check the health of friends and relatives coming from countries like China, Thailand, Malaysia etc.
and even from Kerala,” said the Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO), Rajashree Patnaik.
“We have asked the mobile health units in the peripheral areas to create awareness about the symptoms of the coronavirus,” she added.
Anganwadi and Asha workers have been engaged to tour door to door and identify any suspects amongst the returnees from foreign countries and Kerala as well.
The CDMO said leaflets were distributed among the people citing the symptoms of the disease and posters were pasted in the strategic locations as a part of the awareness drive.
Panic has gripped the entire district following the youth’s hospitalization.
The condition of the youth who was admitted in an isolated ward at the SCB Medical College and Hospital is better now.
A team of doctors is looking after him and his condition is good at present.
The blood samples of the patient were sent to the National Institute of Virology (NIV), Pune.
