Berhampur, Feb 3 (LocalWire): The Ganjam district administration on Monday said it will take strict actions against those spreading fake news related to Coronavirus.
District Collector Vijay Amruta Kulange via video conferencing asked the Block Development Officers and Tehsildars to keep vigil on such persons.
“There is no need to spread panic. The Health Department has set up two isolated wards at the MKCG Medical College and Hospital, and the City Hospital to admit the suspected persons with coronavirus. But no such case was reported so far,” Kulange said.
R. Jagadeesh Patnaik, the Chief District Medical Officer, said, “We have asked the people returning from countries like China, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia and from Kerala as well, to remain in isolation if symptoms similar to Coronavirus are observed.”
Not even a single patient with similar symptoms has tested positive to the Coronavirus, he added.
T. Vijya Kumar Patra (25), who works as a junior scientist in a pharmaceutical company at Zibo in China, returned to Berhampur on January 25 after outbreak of the disease.
He informed LocalWire that the spread of the disease was not too serious at the time he returned. Despite the fact, he was screened at the Kolkata Airport.
