Bhubaneswar, Mar 14 (Local Wire): The state government on Saturday announced that all passengers coming out of the city airport and Jharsuguda airport will be screened for Coronovirus as precautionary measures.
In a press conference, the state government informed that from Monday all the passengers having history of international travel will be screened at the airport for COVID 19 but the screening will not include blood tests.
It has now also been planned that the details of all the passengers coming from abroad to Bhubaneswar from flights will be recorded in the city airport for better surveillance.
Senior IAS officers from the state government Hemant Sharma and Nikunja Dhal said besides such steps each airline operator will mandatory go to the airline after arrival and announce in Odia that screening and data collection of the passengers will be undertaken before their exit from the airport to avoid chaos.
In another development the state has also modified the notification issued under the Epidemic Act and added some more sections.
It has now asked the sarpanchs in rural areas and Resident Welfare Societies in urban areas to inform the government about the details of passengers who recently travelled to outside countries.
On the other hand the state as per the central nod has been empowered to use the State Disaster Relief Fund for Coronavirus management besides persecuting persons who either are selling masks and sanitizers at higher rates or hoarding it as these things have now come under the Essential Commodity Act.
