Berhampur, October 25 (LocalWire): Road communication between Baliguda-Kalahandi and Baliguda-Daringibadi was disrupted on Friday following the blockade by CPI (Maoists) group.
The Bansadhara-Ghumusar-Nagabali division of CPI (Maoist) had called for a one-day bandh in Odisha and East Chhatisgarh area to protest the anti-Maoist operation by the government.
The Red rebels blocked the road near Kurtamgarh and Sirpa under Tumudibandh and K Nuagaon police station limits by felling the roadside trees.
The Maoist group also placed hand-written banners on the spot, accusing several of the government policies and anti-Maoist operations, and urged the people to support the bandh and join the organisation.
A senior police officer said the road near Kurtumagarh was cleared by the local police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), but communication is yet to resume on the road between Daringibadi and Baliguda.
“Efforts are on to clear the road,” he said.
According to local police sources, other than the road blockades in these two places there was no impact of the bandh call given by the Maoist in Kandhamal district.
Local residents, however, are in panic following the Maoist activities in the area.
“There is no cause of panic as the forces are keeping a strict eye on their movements and activities,” a senior police officer stated.
