Bhubaneswar, January 30 (LocalWire) Koraput resident Archana Das has secured 60th rank in Odisha Administrative Services Examination (OAS) with a preparation of just two months.
She studied at a local convent school and later pursued mechanical engineering and got placed in a multi-national company in Bengaluru. But she always kept aiming higher.
In the quest to achieve more, she moved to Delhi, where she got a degree in Political Science and International Relations from Jawaharlal Nehru University. She ranked sixth in the university.
In 2016, she started preparing for Indian Administrative Services (IAS) but switched to preparing for the OAS. In just two months’ preparation, she cleared the examination.
In an exclusive interview with LocalWire, Archana said she wanted to join administrative services since childhood.
She took up Political Science as her optional subject in Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).
Her UPSC preparation in Delhi brought her success in OAS, she mentioned.
“I hadn’t taken any coaching for OAS examination. I used to study for around 8 hours a day so my hard work, God’s blessings and my parents’ inspiration helped me achieve success,” Archana said.
Born in a middle-class family in Koraput’s Semiliguda on February 20, 1990, Archana is deeply inspired by the likes of former President Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and former RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan.
Strong determination, persistence and elders’ blessings can bring anyone success, she said.
Recalling the interview round of OAS examination, Archana said: “I was asked ‘How would you solve a dispute between two groups in an area?’ I answered ‘First, I would inquire about their problems and try to convince them. If that fails, I will take action as per the law.”
Odia food is her favourite. She values nature, environment and society over any individual, said Archana.
Archana’s favourite singers are Sonu Nigam and Shreya Ghosal.
Her hobbies are cooking, driving, cricket and dancing.
