Jajpur, Jan 29 (LocalWire) Police on Tuesday detained one person for allegedly killing a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan in Jajpur district .
Deceased jawan Soumya Ranjan Parida (26) is a resident of Nalakula village under Dharmasala police station.
Parida was found lying in a critical condition on the road near his house on Sunday night. His family members admitted him to the SCB Medical College and Hospital at Cuttack. But he succumbed to his injuries on Monday night, said Dharmasala police station inspector-in-charge Umakanta Nayak.
Parida was on leave from duty and arrived his village recently.
On Sunday, he went to attend a wedding reception with his friends.
“We detained Saroj Parida (26) of Bhagabanpur, one of his friends in this case. After getting the autopsy report , we will know the exact reason of the death,” said Nayak.
“We filed a case under Section 302(murder),” he added.
Tension mounted at Nalakula village and its nearby areas after Parida’s death.
Large numbers of agitated people blocked the Barua-Balichandrapur road at Nalakula by keeping his body on the road, demanding stern action against the killers.
Police rushed to the spot and managed to pacify the protesters, said the police officer.
