Bhubaneswar, Dec 18 (LocalWire) Odisha continued to be lashed by heavy rains on Tuesday under the influence of Cyclone Phethai that made a landfall on neighbouring Andhra Pradesh on Monday.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said most parts of Odisha will experience heavy rainfall for the next 12 hours.
Cyclone Phethai hit Katrenikonain in East Godavari district in Andhra Pradesh on Monday afternoon at a speed of 85-90 kmph triggering heavy rains.
According to reports, one person has died in the cyclonic storm so far.
Though the weather department said the storm has weakened, heavy rains lashed several districts in southern Odisha on Tuesday.
Malkangiri, Koraput, Gajapati, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi and Rayagada are also likely to experience heavy rainfall in the next 12 hours.
However, IMD said rainfall is likely to decrease in the afternoon.
Meanwhile, fishermen have been advised not to venture into west-central Bay of Bengal in the next 12 hours.
