Keonjhar, Sept 11 (LocalWire): The forest department on Friday recovered the body of a female elephant calf from the forest reserve of Baraba in the Janghira section of Sadar Range under the Keonjhar forest division, said Ajit Satpathy, DFO of Anandapur division.
The baby elephant was around 3 years old. The cause of death remains unclear.
Forest officials and veterinary doctors are investigating the cause of death. The body was buried in the ground after the autopsy.
While there are around 15 elephants roaming the area, five elephants have died in the Keonjhar district this year.
