Berhampur, Nov 3 (LocalWire): After grieving for him for a decade, the family of 30-year-old Anil Muni was overwhelmed and had to pinch themselves to believe the miracle when they saw him walking home on Friday night.
Anil was untraceable for a long time. ‘When we saw him walking home, we could not believe our eyes,’ said his elder brother Akshaya.
Anil had left his home in Hinjili in Ganjam district in 2010 to work in a Puri hotel. He kept touch with his family members for a year but thereafter no one knew his whereabouts, said his brother.
About four years ago, two strangers visited their house and broke the news of Anil’s death near Cuttack to his 65-year-old widowed mother Urmila.
Believing them, the family performed his post-death rituals, as per the Hindu religion at Puri in 2015.
Police said they were not informed about Anil missing from home or even the news of his death. ‘We did not register any missing case,’ police said.
‘Though we had performed the rituals at Puri, I had a premonition that my son would return one day.
We are very happy that he returned home about a decade later,’ said Urmila with tears rolling down her cheeks.
‘I often enquired about my son with people who returned from other states but no one had met him or knew about him,’ she said.
After working in a hotel in Puri, Anil had gone to New Delhi and working there, his mother said. Anil, however, did not spell out where he lived or what he was doing during the period of his absence.
