Bhubaneswar, Sept 18 (LocalWire): The State government despite the earlier order of the National Green Tribunal (NGT) has failed to submit an Action Plan to NGT on Elephant Corridors within the specified deadline.
The NGT during its hearing of the case on June 23, 2020 had asked the state government to submit an Action Plan on the proposal of notification of the 14 Elephant Corridors in the state.
The NGT however in a hearing of the case now claims that the Odisha government has failed to submit the same despite tribunal directions.
“It was directed that an Action Plan with specific timelines may be filed within two months in accordance with the observations and recommendations made in the report of ANCF. The Action Plan still has not been filed as directed,” the written order of the NGT said.
The State government had in 2017 and 2018 worked with the Asia Nature Conservation Foundation (ANCF) on ground assessment to propose and notify the 14 Elephant Corridors of the state.
However the identification of the paths have been chosen by the government. It is yet to be notified by the government.
The NGT has been hearing the matter and passed several orders for the same.
