Puri, July 4 (LocalWire): Puri is all set for the annual car festival of Lord Jagannath and is welcoming tens of thousands of devotees on the occasion of Rath yatra.
Chants of Jai Jagannath reverberated in the air as the deities are brought out of the temple and will be taken to Gundicha temple, their aunt’s house.
During the journey, the chariots on which the deities are carried will be pulled by thousands of devotees.
The three deities will stay at Gundicha temple for a week and then return.
As per Jagannath temple administration, the pulling of chariots will begin at 4pm after completion of all rituals.
The Return Rath Yatra (Bahuda Jatra) will take place on 12 July.
President Ram nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi wished the people on Rath Yatra.
The state government is expecting a congregation of about 10 lakh devotees during the yatra. .
