Berhampur, May 12 (LocalWire): Twenty six doctors from different government-run hospitals in Ganjam district have been sent to cyclone-ravaged Puri district to treat the affected people.
A ten-member doctors’ team from MKCG Medical College here rushed to Puri on Friday, 16 doctors from different hospitals, mostly Ayush doctors left for the affected district on Thursday.
‘The chief district medical officer, Puri, is directing the team of doctors, senior and junior residents, mostly from medicine, community medicine and surgery departments from our college, Radhamadhab Tripathy, the principal, medical college and hospital said.
‘We have deputed them to the cyclone-affected areas as instructed by the government. They will return after normalcy is restored in the district,’ he said.
The CDMO, Ganjam, Bijay Kumar Panigrahy said, ‘Deputation of doctors was necessary due to shortage of doctors in the affected areas.’
