Berhampur, Oct 1 (LocalWire): Different Durga Puja committees in the Silk City on Thursday urged the sub collector (Berhampur) to allot at least ten feet area on the roadsides to build makeshift pandals like every year, abiding the COVID-19 guidelines.
Since we have no permanent pandal for installation of the deity to perform puja, we need at least ten square feet area in different locations to build the make-shift pandals.
As Durga puja is nearing, we have asked them to allot the area for the preparation, said Ram Kumar Patra, president of Kamapalli Durga Puja Committee.
Navarati and Durga Puja celebrations will start from October 17 and conclude on the day of Dussehra (October 25).
“We will make the make-shift pandal and puja will be conducted in indoor-like conditions, as per the government order,” said Rajani Kant Padhy of Gandhi Nagara Durga Puja committee.
Earlier, the government had issued guidelines for performance of the Durga Puja which will be conducted in indoor-like conditions only for the observance of rituals without public participation, pump and grandeur.
There would be no darshan or public view. The public address system and entertainment programmes near the puja pandal have been banned . Over 40 committees organize the Durga puja in a big manner in the Silk City.
“We will convene a meeting of the puja committees in consultancy with the district collector soon,” said sub collector Berhampur V.Keerthi Vasan.
