Bargarh, Jan 5 (LocalWire) Ace sprinter Dutee Chand was on Saturday evening a royal guest of demon king Kansa who rules Bargarh these days.
Kansa felicitated the national champion for her feat and wished her luck for future events, particularly the Olympics.
“Its a proud privilege to be a royal guest. I actually felt, the time has gone back and I am on the stage of a mythological king. It’s awesome,” said Dutee, the first Indian athlete to have come out in the open about her same-sex relationship.
As part of annual Dhanu Yatra, an open-air theatre in which episodes of Mahabharat from Krishna’s birth to Kansa’s death are enacted, Bargarh town turns into mythological Mathura and a nearby village ‘Ambapali’ as Gopapur, the native place of Lord Krishna.
Saturday was the fifth day of the 11-day event.
