Bhubaneswar, Mar 14 (Local Wire): The East Coast Railway (ECoR) which manages the railway operations in most of the state has decided to remove the facility of blankets and bed sheets being offered at AC coaches on the trains to avoid spread of Coronavirus.
The department in a statement on Saturday announced the move.
It said, “Blankets and curtains being removed from AC coaches as an extra precaution to keep safe and guard against possible spread of any infection.
Extra bed sheets will be provided on demand.
This is an additional safeguard and a sanitizing measure,”
It also batted for better cleanliness on the railway premises and trains. The department said, “Special emphasis on continuously disinfecting coaches and toilets.
Cleanliness and sanitation in station areas and Railway colonies being strictly monitored,”
The zonal office also said that Control Rooms and Telephone Helplines have been set up at important places over ECoR jurisdiction and the staff have been sensitized and educated.
The department also said that 10-bedded Isolation wards, equipped with drugs and life saving equipments, earmarked in Central Hospital, Bhubaneswar, Divisional Hospitals at Khurda Road, Sambalpur and Visakhapatnam for suspected COVID cases.
