Bhubaneswar, March 28 (LocalWire): The East Coast Railway has geared up for the summer by taking preventive measures to tackle the scorching months ahead.
Railways has laid down a guideline regarding operation of trains during the scorching months and to check its safety measures.
‘All divisions have been advised to ensure proper functioning of taps and other water distribution outlets. Electrical pumps also need to be kept in proper order. Bigger stations have been asked to ensure drinking water facilities in waiting halls.’ said a railway official.
East Coast Railway’s safety department has also advised its staff to keep a strict vigil on regular track maintenance and to ensure proper ballast profile along with full complement of fittings to avoid rail buckling.
Officials have also been directed to check the electrical fittings in coaches. Prevention of fire in luggage vans, pantry cars and coaches of the trains will be given priority.
Trackmen have been advised to remain alert and use rail thermometer to keep a vigil on expansion and contraction of tracks. The security department of ECoR has been directed to check rail users and passengers from carrying inflammable materials while travelling in trains.
