Bhadrak, November 9 (LocalWire): In a swift search and rescue mission, eight fishermen who were stranded mid-sea for over 24 hours were rescued and brought to safety in a joint mission by Dhamra marine police station and Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) personnel.
The fishing vessel carrying the fishermen was caught in the storm and drifted along the seawaters after it developed a technical snag and got stranded.
As the seawater was unsteady and wavering, the fishing vessel failed to negotiate the rough sea condition. The windy weather had also made things worse for the crews.
The distressed crews of the vessel later sent an SOS using the Disaster Alert Transmitters.
The search and rescue operation was immediately undertaken.
“The vessel and its crew were towed back safely to Dhamra fishing harbour,” an official from the Dhamra marine police station said.
