Jagatsinghpur, Feb 24(LocalWire) : Eight panchayats of Jagatsinghpur district were on Sunday felicitated and awarded a cash prize of Rs.5 lakh each under the ‘Peetha’ initiative for doing their work efficiently and transparently.
Collector Guha Poonam Tapas Kumar, deputy chairman of state planning board Bishnu Das and Balikuda-Erasma MLA Prasant Muduli felicitated the panchayat members at a function.
Guha called on the panchayats to continue their good work.
Peetha stands for Peoples Empowerment – Enabling Transparency and Accountability. As part of this government initiative, one best panchayat was selected from different blocks based on their work.
The Singarpur panchayat of Jagatsinghpur block, Sadeisasan of Biridi, Baragola of Raghunathpur, Gopalpur of Tirtol, Osakana from Naugaon, Bhutmundei from Kujang, Rahan from Balikuda and Paida from Erasama block were selected as best panchayats for the 2018-19 period.
Also, 49 individuals received financial aid of Rs8.5 lakh per hector for digging ponds under the Chief Minister Fish Pond Scheme.
