Jagatsinghpur, August 5(LocalWire): Villagers of Banumula under Tirtol police station demonstrated and blocked Sarala road paralyzing traffic after encroachers clashed with them today.
Two women sustained injuries in the attack.
Tirtol police led by IIC Krushan Prasad Mishra rushed to the spot and pacified them to call off their stir.
Villagers alleged that administration has been failed to evict the unauthorized encroachers from government land despite frequent direction from the state government and higher authorities of revenue department.
Ruling party leaders and traders encroached roads, canal embankments and other public places in Tirtol and other areas of Jagatsinghpur district due to callous attitude and negligence of tahsildars.
Villagers said due to encroachment of embankments, canals are choked and water failed to supply to paddy fields for irrigation.
Earlier, villagers had sought the intervention of tehsildar who imposed Section 144 CRPC for restricting canal embankment.
Despite the ban, an influential villager Akshyay Sahni illegally constructed a building on the embankment.
Local villagers including women protested it.
Aggrieved Sahani attacked them in which two women were injured.
Traders of construction materials store sand, bricks, chips, iron rod on government land like the Paradip-Cuttack state highway and other village roads causing to traffic congestion.
