Bhubaneswar, May 16 (LocalWire): A video conference through the Zoom app was held today to discuss the preparedness of the Energy Department for incoming cyclone “Amphan”.
The meeting was chaired by the Minister for Energy wherein he discussed and rechecked all necessary arrangements and preparedness for the cyclone.
The notification said that the restoration work for Fani is to be revisited and any weak links are to be strengthened.
In consideration of the COVID-19 scenario, priority is to be given to the restoration of power to District Headquarter Hospitals, TMCs, PHC; wherever power lines are extremely long and restoration may take time, the hospitals are to be intimated to keep power generators ready for 24*7 power supply.
DISCOMs are to avail Power Saws from private parties for tree-cutting and clearing of roadblocks for quick restoration of power supply in the affected areas.
The Minister suggested that a short video on “Dos and Don’ts” during the cyclone may be released on print, electronic and social media platforms.
The notification said that it was decided that District Collectors should be requested to provide the necessary clearance for the movement of man and material for early restoration of affected areas, which would otherwise take time due to the COVID-19 lockdown.
The CEO and authorized officers of the DISCOMs have been asked to make clear, section-wise plans detailing work to be done before, during, and after the cyclone for power restoration.
