Bhubaneswar, July 30 (LocalWire): The evolving role of human resource management requires a shift from talent management through automation, integration and engagement to ‘team centric productivity and work management’, Prof Amit Banerjee, vice-Chancellor of SOA Deemed to be University, said today.
‘The pivotal need is to recognize the values of health and mental well being in enhancing productivity,’ he said while inaugurating the Human Capital Conclave on the theme ‘Disruptions and Innovations in HR’ organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry at the SOA campus here.
Prof Banerjee stressed upon the application of cloud-based protocols in human resource management systems and human capital management alongside continuous performance monitoring.
There should also be thrust on feedback and analytics as essential tools for human resource management while taking advantage of artificial intelligence-based systems and virtual reality-based micro-learning and corporate learning platforms, he said.
The event brought together around 150 professionals from the industry on a common platform providing them the opportunity to exchange views and experiences even as waves of change transformed global business leading to the need to reinvent HR practices for the digital era.
Ranjan Kumar Mohapatra, chairman of CII Odisha state council and director (HR) of Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (OICL), said the HR professionals have to adapt to the changing times.
The conclave was more about identifying problems in the field of HR and probing questions, he said adding myths surrounding HR needed to be busted.
‘The perception of HR is moving from being a purely qualitative domain to an analytical one,’ he added.
The first panel discussion was on ‘Technological Disruption and Organisational Communication’ with Imdad Ali, chief, HRM at Tata Steel, Kalinga Nagar, Usha Singh, director (HR) at Manganese Ore India Ltd, Satish Mohapatra, vice-President, Siemens India Ltd and Prof.
Satya Prakash Mishra, dean, KIIT Deemed to be University, addressing the session.
The panelists focused on the use of analytics in real life business situations and the manner in which it helped in tackling problems of recruitment renegotiations, attrition, improvement in efficacy of induction programs and overall productivity.
The second panel discussion featured BKThakur, convenor, CII, Odisha HR-IR panel and director (HR), Nalco, Rajita Kulkarni, president, Sri Sri University, Captain Rajesh Kumar Roy, vice-President (HR), JSW Utkal Steel Limited, Bobby Patnaik, HR-Business Manager at Infosys Limited, PKSahu, senior general manager-HRM and Safety, Tata Steel Processing and Distribution Limited.
The major topics of discussion included assessing happiness quotient aids sustainable organizations and why employee happiness was accorded high significance in present times.
