Bhubaneswar, Aug 30 (LocalWire): Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Pradeep Jena today morning said that except Mahanadi River the water levels in all major rivers are below the danger mark.
“Water level in various rivers vis-à-vis the Danger Level as observed at 6am today.
Except Mahanadi all major rivers flowing below danger level at major gauze stations,” he said.
He also said that the inflow into Hirakud has started showing a decline from 4am today and expected that it would reduce further.
“Expected peak flood flow will be about 10lakh cusec at Munduli which may continue for a day till tomorrow forenoon due to continuous very high inflow for Long duration fm Chhatisgarh,” he said.
The state government in the flood update today early this morning said that water levels at Baitarni and Brahmani have receded while relief works are on in the Jajpur district.
Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Pradeep Jena today cited the report of the Jajpur administration and said that the water levels at the two rivers have receded.
“Water level in Baitarani and Brahmani river system has receded.
Relief operations have started in all blocks. Special attention has been given to Bari Block .17 officers have been deployed to manage both rescue and relief operations in Bari,” the SRC said.
The SRC meanwhile talking about Hirakud said that back water at Hirakud dam has started receding.
Six villages-Chikhili,Sukhadoda,Muhudi, Sardha,Semilia and Mahulpali under Lakhanpur block have been effected.
1049 people were evacuated and shifted to six relief centre,” the SRC said citing a report from the Jharsuguda Collector.
