Bhubaneswar, Nov 1 (LocalWire) Experts from academic institutions, industries and research organizations from all over the country have assembled at the SOA Deemed to be University here from Friday to discuss low dimensional materials which have become the subject of intense research worldwide.
“Low dimensional materials have attracted huge attention from the scientific community in the last two decades,” speakers pointed out at the three-day ‘1st National Workshop on Science and Technology of Low Dimensional Systems’ being held at the Institute of Technical Education and Research (ITER), SOA’s faculty of engineering and technology.
Prof. Arup K. Raychaudhuri, former Director of the S.N.Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences, who was the chief guest and keynote speaker at the workshop, urged the students to take up research with passion and with an objective.
“I have been finding that students opting for research don’t get into the field with their heart and soul,” he said.
Prof. Amit Banerjee, Vice-Chancellor of SOA, presided over the program while Prof. P.K.Nanda, Dean (Research and Development) also addressed the researchers.
“There have been many interesting developments and discoveries in the field of low dimensional quantum structures in an effort to achieve solid state devices operating at ever higher speeds, consuming lower power and exhibiting novel optical, electrical and magnetic capabilities,” Prof. S.K.Kamilla, Organising Secretary of the workshop, said.
Prof. P.C.Dash, Head of the department of Physics and Prof. P.K.Mohapatra, Convenor of the workshop, also spoke.
