Balangir, Feb 10 (LocalWire) Experts on Monday urged the government here to create better infrastructure and provide more power to the child rights panel to combat child trafficking in the state.
Participating in a workshop on ‘Child Trafficking Free India’ at the Sambadik Bhavan, Balangir, organised by Palli Alok Pathagar in collaboration with the People’s Cultural Center (PECUC) and the Kailash Satyarthi Children’s foundation (KSCF) the experts also urged the government to ensure more funds for the functioning of such panels.
The child rights protection committee in order to ensure an effective functioning at the village, block and district level has conducted a detailed survey of the total number of migrant children.
More power and infrastructure to such committees dedicated to child welfare at district level and increased budget provisions dedicated towards the child development sector is the need of the hour, they said.
The enlisted provisions would ensure a long way in tackling the multi-dimensional issues of cdhild trafficking in the region and help India free from child trafficking.
Among others, Loisingha MLA Dr Mukesh Mahaling, CWC member Sunita Tripathi, Dr. Godabarish Ratha, Prasant Nayak, Senior Journalist Sudhir Mishra, Sandeep Kaunar, Dayasagar Pradhan were present at the workshop.
The leaders shared their views on how to tackle the issue of child trafficking and how to make India free from this persisting social evil.
